Tables are turning

Post-Election Fever

At 64 hours after election results were unveiled, one cannot imagine how the realistically perfect results would struck us. And up ’til now, it seems like we’re still in limbo waiting to wake up from this vivid dream. Or not.

On specifics, Dennis won by two votes (66-64) in the National Institute of Physics. My warmest congratulations to Dennis Diaz, NIP represenative, CSSC 2009-2010. :)

The Day that was February 25, 2009. And a bit of the next.

Even though required only of six units of academic load to graduate, I took 12 units total this sem (plus 2 units PE) because “I want to be busy.” It seemed wishes had been granted, (obviously, because this blog has been idle for the past two weeks) and did I mention it went over the top?

Aside from my usual, already-busy routine, this week saw two more things: an invidual report in my Combinatorics class, and a midterm exam in Microeconomics. (And then some election stuff, personal stuff and more.)

Stress and Strain

I usually tell people how much I love being busy and stressing myself out because of how I love the adrenaline rush through it all. This time, however, I may have made it to breaking point. And I wasn’t there.

*Details are not for everyone.*

You’re the star now, welcome to the big league
They all want your pic, they all want to see what you’re made of.
What you’re gonna do? Is life gonna get the best of you?

SIX WEEKS TO GO. I WANT TO LEAVE. OR NOT.

PS Goodbye, Plurk and MySpace. Marami pang susunod.

PPS Thanks, Beng!

PPPS Very ironic to the post below.

I’m seriously wishing BS Mathematics would magically turn into a 5-year program.

*sigh*

This has been the happiest year so far. Thanks, everyone!

A Very Usual Unusual Week

Monday was the usual first weekday I have for this semester: forcing myself to be in Muntinlupa to stay home, and then failing at that. Last Monday, I tried staying home until around 2PM when I decided to drive to ATC to chill and buy some groceries to bring to UP for the next days. I decided to also have some photos printed (like old school!) at Kodak, so I took some pictures in soft copy and brought them there, including my graduation pictures. I ended up cutting up and scrapbooking my planner (yes, I brought scissors and glue) while I was relaxing at Starbs. Well, technically, I just produced 1×1 pictures of people I thought the speech bubbles would fit for. Haha, I actually forced the speech bubbles to fit them. Behold!

Tuesday was equally ordinary, except perhaps for the fact that I have to met up with STAND UP-CS to discuss some issues and we have homework due on Math 150.2 that afternoon. I and Coco planned to do it together, and ended up doing it in their org’s tambayan. It was over in about 40 minutes before the class would start, but I spent that time hanging out there chatting with Sef, Coco and Krißa. (And Gelo and Tonting.) Then, the day would end up as boring as it started – having dinner at the boarding house then going to sleep early.

Wednesday turned out a little more appealing. I especially enjoyed my Tennis session that day (perhaps because Irene was absent and I was paired with better players for practice) and the lunch with Janis at the Beach house. I was laughing my heart out that time when Janis accidentally spilt the ice cream she’s eating to nowhere; the best laugh I had this year to date. Math 197 class turned out a bit more boring than usual, however, and by 4PM when classes end, I felt relieved like a bird released from its cage. I was scheduled to tutor Jemil (Dr. Arceo’s nephew), but even already at 4:30PM, her office (where we conduct the tutorials) was vacant. I and Miji proceeded to CS to unwind at the newly built playground, but alas, they installed a children’s hour rule, and matured people like me can only play here at non-peak hours. (At that particular moment, we have to wait ’til 5:30PM.) To ease boredom, Dr. Arceo came to the rescue. She called me up and told me Jemil is ready for tutorial at her office. Bye Miji. Then the usual thing: CSSC GA at 5:30PM. Beng, who we thought was just usually late, did not arrive at all. I called him up after the meeting; he told me he didn’t know there was a meeting at all! We still met up after all for reasons that matter. Hehe. We had dinner at Tropical Hut in QMC to discuss matters. Miji, Candice, Gabby, Likha, Beng and I were present. I tried Topical Hut’s ‘Classic burger’ because it was not at all times that I can eat there like I do at McDonald’s. (Hope you got my point.)

After dinner, Likha, Beng and I, proceeded to Molave and then back to Philcoa, and then KNL, to discuss more matters. Hehe. This night is reminiscent of the eve of KaSCIyahan’s culminating night. We coined the term “’spur-of-the-moment’ decisions” because at that particular night, everything was decided on such basis. At that particular night (August 7, 2008), only I, Beng and Kester were left to work for KaSCIyahan since everyone else is busy with their own home institute’s presentation for the next day. Kester was not with us, that night, however. We were left to decide on specific matters and most of them were decisions that were short, simple and crisp. (E.g. “Tara punta tayong National [Bookstore].” “Sige!” and “Puntahan natin si Miji sa Math!” “Tara!,” the latter being already part 10PM.) Back to what I was narrating, Wednesday night is very reminiscent of August 7 and it somehow made me sad that I have a few days left to be a proactive undergraduate student, and even if I pursue a master’s degree, it would never be the way my council life was. :(

Reached home before 12AM, much earlier than August 7’s 3AM. Haha, make that August 8. And enough with the comparisons.

Thursday was supposed to be boring and everything was planned ’til evening. HOWEVER, there were conflicts with lots of the council’s internal papers and we have to meet up again to discuss matters. Argh.

A thing for Thursday that did push through was job hunting! (Or, err.. Attending the job fair.) I brought 50 copies of my résumé! Joseph, who was with me, brought only five. We would stroll through the whole venue twice. At the first round, he’d just observe as I give away my personal details to sign up sheets and give away my résumé to possible employers. At the second round, we’ll return to five companies he found appealing (through observation of my first round) and give away his. How cool is that?

Friday!! I have homework due in my Math 197, and I and Miji dealt on missing both our respective early classes in order to finish the said homework. (I missed Econ and she missed Spanish.) By 4:00PM, everything academic is over, and I’d chat with the MMC peeps, then with Belle, then with Izzay; and then by 4:55PM, I was running very fast to Beng and Gabby who’s waiting for me at the AS steps because we’re tagging along KAISA’s filing of candidates scheduled at 5PM. By 6PM, I was already at Bo’s Katips to Titus’ treat and post-candidate-filing bonding. WEW.

And please weave to the whole story that I manned referendum polling precincts at almost every time I’m vacant. It was so tiring that I don’t almost care about the result of the referendum; I just want it to succeed! (Which it did, according to Shan Abdulwh!d, reaching 50%+1 turnout in the afternoon of Friday. I chatted with her last Friday near the OSR.) But I’m kidding. I do care about the result, whether I’m in for it or not.

I’m back home Friday night hungry for speedy internet that I missed for four long days. Hello, 50+ emails.
